The Era of Clarity

In a fire gold is refined.  Perhaps our tragic California fire brings authentic perspective in the same way -- a refinement of truth.  Sadly, California is having its moment of truth.  Despite warnings, California was exposed as being in no way prepared for the recent disaster and ruination of landscape, homes, wildlife and of course, loss of life.  The leaders’ aloofness and disregard that followed was equally amiss.  California’s leadership failure in the fire has been on display with shocking clarity.

This was also true recently in Hawaii, North Carolina and Ohio where disaster hit and help was not to be had from the federal government.  The utter failure was silencing.  But it spoke volumes about the fleeting old leadership and the new path forward. 

Likewise, truth is brought to light with Donald Trump.  His electoral victory broke records and defied all odds.  There is an undeniable lure to his campaign of confidence.  He circumvented two assassination attempts, twenty seven empty and erroneous legal prosecutions and won in the face of massive oppositional obstruction and propaganda.  His demonstrable talent so sharply contrasted his electoral opponent who lacked intelligence or any measure of leadership and who’s running mate exhibited only infantile, clownish behavior that this duality seemed an intervention from above.  The truth came out.  What caused Kamala to wear a black pantsuit/sweatsuit with silver zippers to the inauguration?  When others were in formal gowns.  She didn’t intend to look terrible.  It just happened.  Almost like it was meant to be.  Side by side, Trump and Harris had such gleaming contrast that it is unfathomable how this combination came to be.  Maybe this is our shining truth to see.  It is clarity.

Even President Biden, our Grouchy Old Man Criminal X- Com in Chief brought a vivid contrast to any standard of presidential behavior and valor.  Even our neighbor, Prime Minister Trudeau resigned.  Pathetic is out.  Performance is in.

Perhaps we can be grateful.   The signs are unmistakable.  Maybe this is the final act in years and years of governmental waste in every way.  The final cry of total abuse in leadership.  Abuse that invited abuse from other countries.  Abuse upon abuse.  Creepy covid and creepier so-called protection and accommodation that followed.  It is international.  Crazy became creed.  Authoritarian, crazarian, crazocracy.

But crazy has had it’s last harrah.  The fork in the road has become defined and the options have crystalized.  Like gold refined by fire, it is the era of clarity.
